Rocket League Gold defeats Washtenaw Community College to improve to 2-0

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University Rocket League Gold (2-0) defeated Washtenaw Community College (1-1), 3-1, Thursday night.

Game 1
Carlow opened game one with three straight goals, a natural hattrick, from Brady Fest (brad) – who, despite having the flu, had a night ala Michael Jordan in the infamous 'flu game.' Washtenaw broke through with a goal of their own with a minute to play. Fest responded almost instantly to slip one more past the defense that made the final score 4-1 in favor of the Celtics. AJ Nguyen (fallin._.) had two assists and three saves in game one.

Game 2
Angelo Fernandez (gelo) opened the scoring in game two with a beautiful unassisted goal to stake Carlow to a 1-0 lead just thirty seconds into the game. WCC responded with two goals to go up 2-1. Washtenaw was able to fend off a flurry of shots by Carlow and took game two by a score of 2-1.

Game 3
Fernandez, once again, opened the scoring in game three. This time he hammered home an upper 90 shot after a beautiful setup pass from Nguyen. Washtenaw was able to tie it up with about two minutes left in regulation. The tie was broken about a minute into overtime when Fest was able to finesse a goal for the 2-1 overtime victory.

Game 4
Carlow was looking to close out the match in game four, but ceded the first goal to Washtenaw CC and were digging out of a 1-0 hole just a minute into the game. Washtenaw doubled up and extended their lead to 2-0 before Fest cut it in half to 2-1 moments later on a feed from Nguyen. The pair repeated the feat with Nguyen assisting Fest once more to tie it up 2-2. Fernandez was able to score the game-winner with seconds left on the clock to secure victory for Carlow on the night.

On the night, Fest had seven goals, 14 saves and 20 shots. Nguyen had five assists and eight saves, while Fernandez racked up four goals on nine shots.
