INSTITUTE, W.Va. --- Carlow University women's basketball lost its season-opener to NCAA DII West Virginia State University on the road Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets (2-1) broke the school record for points in a game with the 141-32 win over the Celtics. Other school records broken included most assists (38), most steals (28) and most field goals made in a single game (56).
West Virginia State also broke three Mountain East Conference (MEC) records in the win, including margin of victory (109), points in a single half (82) and halftime margin (65).
The Yellow Jackets held Carlow to just two points in the first quarter and outscored the Celtics, 35-15, in the second to lead, 82-17 at halftime.
West Virginia State held Carlow to just four points in the third quarter, and outscored Carlow, 25-11, in the fourth.
Shaelyn Clark and Emiley Hillgartner scored half of Carlow's points on the night.
Eight different Yellow Jackets scored in the double figures.
The Celtics return to action with a trip to Washington Adventist University for a 7 p.m. game Nov. 18.
