MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- Carlow University men's basketball tipped-off the 2022-23 season with a loss at St. Thomas (Fla.) University Thursday evening.

It was the Bobcats' home- and season-opener, and they defeated the Celtics, 108-46.

After a 12-hour travel day, the Celtics didn't have much left in the tank for the Bobcats.

St. Thomas scored 24 straight points before Carlow put a single point on the board with a free throw. Despite the sluggish first half, the Celtics showed a lot of hustle on the court – Nehemiah Brazil took a few charges and freshman Isaiah Stein tallied two blocks in the first half effort.

The Bobcats pressed Carlow almost the entire first half to take a commanding 52-9 lead into the break.

Carlow fared better in the second half, but once again St. Thomas poured in over 50 points as six different Bobcats tallied double-digit numbers on the night.

Brevan Williams scored eight points off the bench for the Celtics while David Clary and Griffin Ruhlman each added seven. Ruhlman was 4 for 4 from the line.

St. Thomas out-rebounded Carlow, 48-35, and picked up 23 steals. The Celtics committed 32 turnovers to the Bobcats' 15.

Carlow shot 62.5 percent from the free throw line, but St. Thomas shot 54.7 percent from the floor with 12 treys.

Carlow faces Florida Memorial University to conclude its trip down south Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
