MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- Carlow University men's basketball lost a tough 104-66 contest to Florida Memorial University Friday night.

The Celtics (0-2) were in the game through the first 10 minutes, but the defending Sun Conference Champion Lions (2-0) went on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 34-20.

Carlow trailed by 17 points at the half, but turnovers would prove costly to the Celtics in the second half.

Ahead 64-48, FMU went on another run – this time 16-0 – to lead, 80-48.

The Celtics would string together a few buckets, but they were too few and far between to make a dent in the ever-widening lead.

The Lions made 12 treys on the night and scored 33 points off Carlow turnovers.

The Celtics out-rebounded FMU, 49-44, resulting in just 16 second-chance points.

Nehemiah Brazil led Carlow with 17 points, three assists and two blocks on the night.

Isaiah Stein was 2 for 3 from beyond the arc with 16 points, and David Clary pulled down eight boards.

AJ Sharp dished out five assists, and five different players shot a perfect 2 for 2 from the free throw line.

Tariq Humes sank four treys to lead all scorers with 19 points off the bench for the Lions.

The Celtics return to action against Penn State New Kensington for a 7 p.m. road game Nov. 4.
