Men's Basketball downed in conference contest at Indiana University East

RICHMOND, Ind. --- Carlow University men's basketball lost a 102-58 River States Conference game to Indiana University East on the road Tuesday night.

Byron Gaskins started the game with a jumper to put the Celtics (1-20, 0-10 RSC) on the board, but a dunk by David Clary was the last lead Carlow would enjoy just over a minute into the game.

The Red Wolves (10-9, 4-5 RSC) led the remainder of the contest, pushing their advantage to double figures early in the first half.

IU East led, 44-25, at halftime and put together two 10-0 runs through the beginning of the second half to pull even further away.

Nehemiah Brazil led Carlow with 15 points, three steals and two assists.

Gaskins added 11 points, three assists and two steals, while Isaiah Stein tallied both of the Celtics' blocks in the effort.

Jake Johnson sank four treys to lead all scorers with 17 points, while four other Red Wolves contributed double figures in the win.

IU East shot 53.4 percent (39 for 73) from the field and sank 14 treys on the night.

The Red Wolves scored 29 points off turnovers and out-rebounded the Celtics, 48-30.

IU East scored 49 points off the bench to Carlow's 13.

The Celtics enjoy a long break before traveling to Indiana University Kokomo Jan. 26 for a 7:30 p.m. game.
