Men’s Basketball ranked ninth in AMCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll
NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. --- Carlow University men’s basketball ranked ninth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the league announced Tuesday.

Last season the Celtics went 4-21 overall and 2-16 in AMCC action.
First year head coach and Carlow alum, Jacob St. George, selected senior guard/forward Riley Comforti (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland HS/Alderson-Broaddus University) and junior guard Byron Gaskins (Woodbridge, Va./Christ Chapel Academy) as players to watch this season.
Gaskins led the Celtics with an average 17.3 points per game last year and led the team in assists (63) and steals (47). He earned USCAA All-American Second Team honors.
Comforti led the team with an average 8.2 rebounds per game in just 17 games played last season. He was third on the team with an average 11.2 points per game and earned USCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors.
Two-time defending AMCC champion La Roche University is expected to claim the AMCC men's basketball title, according to league coaches.
Penn State Behrend senior guard Tommy DiRienzo was named the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. DiRienzo is the defending AMCC Player of the Year and an AMCC all-conference first team selection. He was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 7 First Team and was an All-ECAC First Team selection, along with being a D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team selection.
