Men’s Basketball comes up short against Pitt Greensburg in AMCC Game of the Week

After falling to the Celtics 71-70 in the final seconds of a home game Dec. 18, the Bobcats won 10 of their last 11 games, including seven of eight in the AMCC. Pitt Greensburg (14-7, 8-4 AMCC) found retribution in the second half against the Celtics (3-16, 2-9 AMCC) tonight.
Riley Comforti (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland HS) scored a game-high 18 points with eight rebounds and three steals. Nehemiah Brazil (Pittsburgh, Pa./Nazareth Prep HS) added 10 points, a season-high eight assists and three steals, while Devin Lewis (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier HS/Pitt Bradford) pulled down a season-high nine boards and dished out three assists in the effort.
Carlow jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game before Pitt Greensburg clawed its way back to tie the score at 8-all. The Celtics quickly regained an advantage, but the Bobcats tied the score again at 16-16 with 9:37 on the clock. Carlow held onto its lead throughout the remainder of the half, but two free throws and a last-second layup saw the Bobcats trailing 34-33 at intermission.
A layup to start the second half handed Pitt Greensburg its first lead of the game. Carlow tied the game at 36-all, and Comforti answered the Bobcats' next layup with a three-pointer that gave the Celtics the lead once again, 39-38.
Both teams tied the score three times before a jumper set off a 12-3 run for the Bobcats that spanned over six minutes, giving Pitt Greensburg a 62-51 lead with seven minutes remaining in regulation. Pitt Greensburg continued its barrage, outscoring the Celtics 19-9 the rest of the game, with nine points at the foul line alone.
While Carlow forced more turnovers on the night, the Bobcats capitalized off turnovers, scoring 19 points off 13 committed by the Celtics. Pitt Greensburg outrebounded Carlow 49-39 and outscored the Celtics 46-38 in the paint.
Joziah Wyatt-Taylor led the Bobcats with 16 points. Matthew Marinchak scored a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Ty Keffer added 14 points. Trent Rozich scored 13 points to tally his 1,000th career point in the final seconds of the game.
The Celtics host Pitt Bradford for a 2 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 8.
