Men’s Golf opens 2023 fall season with home dual and Pitt Bradford invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. --- Carlow University men's golf opened the 2023 fall season hosting a dual against Waynesburg University and traveling to the Pitt Bradford Invitational this past weekend.

The Celtics hosted Waynesburg at par-72 Youghiogheny Country Club Friday to tee-off the season.

The Yellow Jackets narrowly defeated Carlow, 337-347.

Christian Rotundo led the Celtics with a team low of 83.

Newcomer Zach Jubeck shot a solid 86 for his first round as a Celtic, and Waynesburg's Matthew Karpeal led the team and the field with an eight over par.

The team turned around and traveled to the 12-team Pitt Bradford Invitational Saturday afternoon at The Pennhills Club.

The field was comprised mostly of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) teams, and the Celtics landed in 12th place at the end of the day.

Rotundo once again led the Celtics, tying for 28th in the 64-player field with a score of 83.

"We were short-handed, but we played solid golf," head coach Ryan Shank said. "We need to show more consistency throughout the round."

Logan Smith shot an 85, and CJ Lucas improved 20 strokes from Friday's match.

Jack Ditrani led the Penn State Altoona A team to a first place finish after capturing the individual title with a 73.

The Celtics return to action with a home dual against Geneva College Sept. 9.
