Men’s Soccer lands ninth on AMCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. --- The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) announced Carlow University men's soccer ranked ninth in the 2024 Coaches' Preseason Poll Aug. 21.
The Celtics ended the 2023 campaign 2-13-1 overall and 1-8 in conference action, finishing ninth in the regular season standings.
Fourth year Head Coach Allen Duda selected junior forward/midfielder Konner Sayre (Meadville, Pa./Meadville Area Senior HS) and graduate midfielder Gavin Moore (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills HS) as players to watch this season.
Sayre was a 2023 USCAA All-American first team selection who started in 13 games for the Celtics last season with one goal and one assist.
Moore started and played in 15 games, leading the team with four goals and an assist. He was named a 2023 USCAA All-American second team selection.
Both athletes also earned a spot on the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® Team.
The league selected Mount Aloysius College first in the preseason poll, followed by Penn State Behrend in second place. Alfred State College rounded out the top three. The Mounties earned back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022 before falling in the AMCC Championship game in 2023.
The AMCC tabbed Mount Aloysius senior forward Juan Camacho as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, and Alfred State senior defender Jack Leahy as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
