Celtics sweep United East Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors

LATHAM, N.Y. --- Carlow University athletes Mel Cobbler and Caleb Rogers earned United East Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Cobbler, a sophomore from Silver Spring, Md., reset the record books in the 60-meter hurdles Friday afternoon at Muskie Meet No. 4 hosted by Muskingum University. The sophomore clocked a 9.28 in his sole event on the day which not only set a personal best but also earned the top mark in program history. His mark earned him 11th overall in the meet and currently sits at second in the United East Conference.
Rogers, a first-year athlete from Clark, Pa., is performing well for the Celtics, bettering his shot put mark with each meet. At the Muskie Meet No. 4 this past Friday he threw the shot 11.28 meters to earn 15th in the event. The distance broke his current program record and ranks seventh in the United East.
This is the first career Athlete of the Week nod for Cobbler and Rogers.
The Celtics travel to the United East Indoor Track & Field Championships at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md. Feb. 28.
