Pan, Royster lead Men’s Track & Field with several academic awards

CSC Awards | NAIA Awards | USCAA Awards | RSC Awards

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's track & field student-athletes Bryan Pan and Tyhir Royster earned several national academic distinctions this past season.

Both were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team; the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete team; the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Spring Non-Championship National All-Academic team; and the River States Conference (RSC) Scholar-Athlete team.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

To be eligible, nominees must participate in 50 percent of the competitions that an institution schedules in either cross country, indoor track and field, or outdoor track and field. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.

The NAIA released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Men's Track & Field Scholar-Athletes in mid-May.

Concordia (Neb.) had the highest number of honorees with 23 and was followed by Saint Mary (Kan.) with 20 honorees of its own.

The 2023 list featured 805 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their institution. To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

The USCAA's National All-Academic Award is designed to recognize all student-athletes (sophomores, juniors, and seniors at four-year institutions and sophomores at two-year institutions) who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.00-point system) or greater. This season's award is for those student-athletes that participate at a member institution in a sport in which there is not currently a USCAA National Championship.

The RSC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Team recognized outstanding students with a 3.25 GPA or above who have been at their current school for more than two semesters.
