Men’s and Women’s Track & Field heads to USCAA Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- Carlow University men's and women's track & field travels to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Championships today.

The Celtics begin competition at 10 a.m. Saturday at the John G. Hoyt Track and Field Complex at American International College. Athletes had to meet qualifying marks to compete in individual events.

The women's 4x100 relay team of Trista Miller, Sydney Taylor, Ella Cloak and Molly Wagner lead the USCAA with a time of 51.74 in the event. The men's 4x100 relay team of Walt Kada, Gavin Moore, Sangay Gurung and Bryan Pan are ranked fourth in the USCAA heading into the event. Pan ranks third in the USCAA in the 110-meter hurdles with a best time of 17.86 this season, and Cloak is ranked second in the 400 and 800.

Wagner holds the top spot in the 100 and 200 heading into championships, while Pan is third in the 100 and second in the 200 on the men's side. Miller ranks second behind Wagner in the 200.

Taylor and Leia Day are third and eighth in long jump, respectively, while Moore ranks seventh on the men's side. Taylor also holds the top spot in triple jump with a leap of 10.55 meters.

Day ranks second in high jump, while Emma Sovich and Julia Ogrodowski are ranked fourth and fifth in shot put, respectively. The pair are ranked eighth and ninth in discus, while Mya Waage comes into the championship ranked fifth in discus.

Laci Schwirian is ranked fifth in the 5,000 to round out the top marks for the Celtics, while Morgan Shriver is in the top 15 for shot put and will also compete in discus.
