Women’s Track & Field records 11 top-10 finishes at United East Championship
ERIE, Pa. --- Carlow University women's track & field recorded 11 top-10 finishes and placed eighth of 10 teams at the United East Outdoor Championship, hosted by Penn State Behrend May 4-5.
Four AMCC institutions participated as affiliates in the joint championship with the United East Conference – Alfred State College, Hilbert College, Penn State Behrend and Carlow.
Molly Wagner once again led the way with a second-place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:00.18. Wagner was also part of the 4x100 relay team of Trista Miller, Sydney Taylor and Ella Cloak that placed second with a time of 50.89.
Taylor landed in fourth place with a 10.39-meter triple jump, and Miller placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 27.85.
Laci Schwirian, Cloak, Miller and Wagner were part of the 4x400 relay team that placed sixth with a 4:37.70 finish. Cloak also earned seventh and 10th place spots in the 800 and 400, respectively.
Leia Day placed fourth in high jump with a leap of 1.37 meters and earned an eighth-place finish with a distance of 4.71 meters in long jump.
Julia Ogrodowski placed seventh with a throw of 9.77 meters in shot put, and Emma Sovich threw 9.16 meters to place ninth.
Bryan Pan was the only Carlow men's athlete to compete at the championship, placing 13th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.05.
Host Penn State Behrend took home the team trophy for both the men and the women, and head coach Greg Cooper earned men's and women's Coach of the Year honors.
