Men’s Volleyball swept by St. Vincent in nonconference action

It was the Celtics' second game of a five-game stretch over four days. The Bearcats (3-3) swept Carlow 25-6, 25-14 and 25-18.
Jaden Michalski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) led the Celtics with four kills and five digs on the night. Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) tallied three service aces, and Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) added nine assists.
St. Vincent jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the first set enroute to a 25-9 victory.
The Bearcats got out to the same lead in the second set, but three errors in a row saw the Celtics trailing, 18-12. St. Vincent outscored Carlow 7-2 to end the set with a 25-14 win.
Carlow began the third set with a 2-0 lead before a service error and three aces in a row put the Bearcats ahead, 4-2. The Celtics kept it close, and a service ace from Luke Campana (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) cut St. Vincent's lead to one. A service error handed the ball back to the Bearcats, who went on an 8-0 to gain a 15-6 advantage.
A St. Vincent service error and a kill by David Valentino (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional HS) cut the Bearcats' lead to six, and St. Vincent errors kept it close until the end, with Carlow trailing 22-17. Michalski landed a kill, but the Bearcats won the final set, 25-18.
Zebadiah Wyant led the Bearcats with eight kills, and Wyant and Tommy Barrick each tallied six digs. Jackson Genicola had 24 assists and recorded four of St. Vincent's 14 service aces on the night.
Carlow travels to Grove City tomorrow to compete against the host team on the first day of a two-day quad match.
