Men’s Volleyball swept on second trip to Saint Vincent

It was the Celtics' (0-8) first time back on the court since Feb. 8, facing a familiar foe in the Bearcats (5-6). Saint Vincent swept the match 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18.
Gavin McLain (Acworth, Ga./North Paulding HS) led Carlow with four kills, and Ryan Callahan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) added five assists and two aces on the night. Callahan and Angelo Fernandez (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann Regional Academy) picked up five digs apiece, and Caio Matos Machado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Bishop Guilfoyle HS) tallied two solo blocks in the effort.
Saint Vincent made quick work of the Celtics in the first set, jumping out to an 8-1 advantage and hitting .462 enroute to a 25-9 victory.
Carlow took the lead to begin the second set and tied the game several times. Ahead 12-11, the Bearcats strung together a 10-2 run to lead, 22-13. Saint Vincent secured the final kill to win the second set 25-16.
The Bearcats started out with a 9-3 lead in the third set, but the Celtics dug in to trail by three. Both teams put together four-point runs, and traded two points back and forth, with Carlow still trailing by three, 18-15. Saint Vincent ended the set with a 7-3 run to win the game 25-18.
Tyler Nelson led the Bearcats with 10 kills and Jackson Genicola contributed 18 assists, seven digs and five of Saint Vincent's 18 service aces on the night.
The Celtics face another long hiatus before traveling to Mount Aloysius College for a 7 p.m. AMCC game March 19.
