Men’s Cross Country places first at Mountie Invitational

CRESSON, Pa. --- Carlow University men's cross country placed first of two teams at the Mountie Invitational, hosted by Mount Aloysius College Saturday morning.

The Celtics tallied a team score of 27 with an average time of 24:46 to edge past the La Roche University team that scored 28.

Jimmy Giannetta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Saint Joseph HS) led Carlow with a second-place finish of 19:56.2 in his first collegiate race.

Quincy Fana (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area HS) placed seventh with a time of 21:32.6, and DeJuan Allen (Atlanta, Ga./Marietta HS) finished in 27:21.2 to place 18th in the 3.11-mile invitational. Clayton Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville Area HS) and David Jones (Decatur, Ga/Lakeside HS) rounded out scoring for the Celtics with times of 27:22.8 and 27:41.6, respectively.

Dylan Ackerman of Pitt Greensburg placed first of 23 runners with a time of 18:42.6.

The Celtics travel to the Pitt Greensburg Fall Classic Oct. 5.
