Softball swept in nonconference action against Geneva

The losses dropped the Celtics to 6-18 overall, while the Golden Tornadoes improved to 17-13.
Game 1: L, 12-1 (5 inn.)
Geneva's Alena Campbell and Sophia Tvaroch combined to pitch a two-hitter to defeat the Celtics in five innings to start the day.
McKenna Pierce doubled to record one of Carlow's hits, and Bella Cartieri hit a ground out to the right side to bring her home, scoring the Celtics' lone run in the top of the fourth. Tatum Wiggs singled in the fifth to tally Carlow's other hit on the day.
An error, a double and an RBI single brought in two runs for the Golden Tornadoes in the bottom of the first.
Four hits and two errors allowed seven runs across in the second, while two singles and two doubles brought in the final three runs for Geneva in the third.
Clara Niglio suffered the loss after allowing seven earned runs on five hits with two walks in an inning of work.
Justena Giles allowed three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and walk in 1.2 innings, and Sam Tressler tossed the final 1.1 innings without allowing a hit.
Megan Gray hit 3 for 3 with three RBI to lead the Golden Tornadoes, while Julia Hart and Molly Shelley each went 2 for 2 with an RBI.
Game 2: L, 12-4 (6 inn.)
Geneva scored eight runs early and kept Carlow at bay to win another run-rule game in a walk-off in the nightcap.
Pierce hit 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI, and Niglio went 2 for 3 with a double in the effort at the plate.
A walk and a single put runners on for Carlow in the top of the third. Pierce landed a two-out double to left field to bring both runners in to cut Geneva's lead to 8-2.
The Celtics left Geneva runners stranded in the bottom half of the frame, but the Golden Tornadoes added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
A walk and back-to-back singles brought in the first run before another walk loaded the bases and Carlow made a pitching change.
An infield single and a two-out single up the middle put the Golden Tornadoes up, 11-2, heading into the fifth.
Francesca Beighley started on first after getting hit by a pitch, and singles from Cartieri and Pierce loaded the bases for Carlow.
A fielder's choice allowed Beighley to score, and an error in the next at-bat brought in an unearned run. The Celtics still had the bases loaded, but once again Geneva was able to leave runners stranded with a line drive to end the inning.
Geneva retired the Celtics in order in the top of the sixth, and a single, a stolen base and two errors in a row handed the Golden Tornadoes a walk-off win.
Wiggs was saddled with the loss after allowing three earned runs on four hits in a third of an inning.
Tressler, Niglio and Giles combined to pitch the remainder of the game, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and five walks.
McKenzie Rapp earned the win in the circle for Geneva, allowing two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk in four innings of work.
Hart hit 3 for 3 with a double to help lead the Golden Tornadoes at the plate, and Alexa Forsythe went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.
The Celtics host Alfred State College for a 12 p.m. AMCC doubleheader tomorrow at West Field. Prior to first pitch, the Carlow will celebrate its three seniors: Maddie Bowes, Jillian Durst and Clara Niglio.
