NAIA No. 13-ranked Rio Grande rolls past Women's Basketball

RIO GRANDE, Ohio --- The NAIA No. 13-ranked University of Rio Grande women's basketball team defeated Carlow University, 128-58, Saturday.

RIO GRANDE, Ohio --- The NAIA No. 13-ranked University of Rio Grande women's basketball team defeated Carlow University, 128-58, Saturday.

The Celtics concluded the regular season 5-21 overall and 1-16 in the River States Conference after the loss on the road to the RedStorm (25-3, 16-1 RSC).

Sydney Carr led Carlow with 15 points, while Megan Ost posted a double-double with 11 points, 10 boards and two blocks.

The Celtics shot 90 percent (18 for 20) from the foul line, but just 29.2 percent (19 for 65) from the field on the day.

The RedStorm out-rebounded the Celtics, 49-29, and forced 26 Carlow turnovers.

Rio Grande scored 40 points off turnovers and 51 points off the bench to Carlow's 14.

Rio Grande pushed its lead to double figures in the very first quarter while holding the Celtics to 11 points in the second to take a 61-33 advantage into halftime.

The RedStorm out-scored Carlow, 29-11, in the third quarter and held the Celtics to just eight points in the fourth.

Ella Skeens led the RedStorm with 32 points, Kaylee Darnell added 21 points and Courtney Pifher scored 18 points off the bench.

Carlow waits to hear if it made the cut for the 2023 USCAA Championship tournament in March. Bid day is set for March 5.
