Foul trouble deals Women’s Basketball an AMCC loss at Pitt Greensburg

Both teams hit 23 shots from the field, but the Bobcats (2-5, 1-2 AMCC) held the edge at the foul line, where they scored 26 points on the night to Carlow's 14.
Junior guard Sydney Carr scored a career- and season-high 26 points to lead the Celtics (1-4, 1-2 AMCC), adding five steals, two assists and two blocks in the effort.
Emiley Hillgartner went 4 for 4 from the foul line with 14 points and two steals, while Brianna Evans added nine rebounds and eight points off the bench.
Pitt Greensburg outscored the Celtics, 16-12, in the first half and held Carlow scoreless for over five minutes, going on a seven point run that spanned from the end of the first quarter and into the second.
A jumper and back-to-back treys from Carr put Carlow within two points of tying the game with four minutes left in the half, but the Bobcats slowly pulled away to lead 32-24 at halftime.
Pitt Greensburg sent Carlow to the line just once during the entire first half.
The Celtics kept it close to start the second half but ended the quarter trailing 54-42 after the third.
Both teams scored 22 points in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats' earlier leads kept them ahead for the win.
The Celtics forced 25 Pitt Greensburg turnovers, scoring 16 points in the process, while the Bobcats outrebounded Carlow, 58-38, on the night.
Carlow outscored the Bobcats, 11-5, off the bench and 32-30 in the paint.
Melina Maietta scored 26 points to lead Pitt Greensburg, and Madison Scalese added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Malina Boord tallied 17 points, and Sarah Penrod contributed 10 rebounds for the Bobcats.
Carlow hits the road to face Hilbert (N.Y.) College and Bryant & Stratton Buffalo this weekend. The Celtics return to Donahue Pavilion Dec. 16 for a 2 p.m. game against Wilberforce.
