Women’s Basketball headed to USCAA DI Small College National Championship tournament

PETERSBURG, Va. --- For the second year in a row, Carlow University women's basketball is in Virginia for the USCAA DI Small College National Championship March 10-13.

The No. 4-seed Celtics take on No. 5-seed Bryant & Stratton College Syracuse March 10 at 3 p.m. at Virginia State University.

Last season Carlow suffered a disappointing loss to Bluefield State College without an opportunity for a consolation game due to the bracket seeding.

Led by second year Head Coach Dave Gordon, Carlow is looking to leave its mark at the tournament after its first 10-win season since 2016-17. The Celtics ended the regular season 12-12 overall and 9-9 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action.

Sydney Carr and Emiley Hillgartner lead the team with an average 14.3 and 14.8 points per game, respectively.

Carr ranks fifth in the USCAA with a three-point percentage of 34.5, is tied for sixth with an average 3.8 assists per game, 11th with an average 0.8 blocks per game and ranks in the top-20 with an average 6.5 rebounds per game.

Emma Aubrey ranks second in the nation with 59 three-pointers so far this season, while Carr and Hillgartner rank in the top-15 with an average 2.5 steals each per game. Shaelyn Clark, Carr and Hillgartner all rank in the top-15 for free throw percentage, with Clark leading the way at 75 percent.

Daja White leads the Bobcats (10-8) and the USCAA with an average 22.4 points per game. Eunice Sillong leads the league with an average 16.9 rebounds per game and is ranked third in the USCAA with an average 1.6 blocks per game this season.
