Three Women’s Basketball athletes named USCAA All-Americans, nine earn All-Academic honors

PITTSBURGH --- Three Carlow University women's basketball athletes were named USCAA All-Americans, and nine earned All-Academic honors the league announced during the Small College National Championship at the Virginia State Multipurpose Center March 9.

Sydney Carr, Emiley Hillgartner and Emma Aubrey each earned spots on All-American teams.

Carr earned All-American First Team honors this season. The junior from Pittsburgh, Pa. led the Celtics with 373 points this season and was second on the team with an average 14.3 points per game.

She ranked fifth in the USCAA with an average 3.9 assists per game and 12th with an average 2.3 steals per game. Carr ranked fifth in the league with a three-point field goal percentage of 34.3.

At 5-foot-4, Carr also led Carlow with an average 6.9 rebounds per game and ranked 10th in the USCAA with an average 5.4 defensive rebounds per game. She tallied 19 total blocks on the season and ranked 11th in the league with an average 0.7 blocks per game. Last season, Carr was an All-American Second Team honoree.

Hillgartner and Aubrey earned All-American Second Team honors this year.

Hillgartner, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, Pa., led Carlow this season and ranked 13th in the USCAA with an average 14.5 points per game. She was second on the team behind Carr with 347 total points.

Hillgartner led the team and ranked 10th in the league with an average 2.5 steals per game. She was second on the team and ranked 14th in the USCAA with an average 2.6 assists per game.

Aubrey, a junior from Bristol, Tenn., led the Celtics and ranked second in the USCAA with 66 total three-pointers made this season. She shot 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and was third on the team with 206 points this year.

Carr and Aubrey started and played in every game for the Celtics, while Hillgartner missed just two games and started in 23. All three athletes averaged over 28 minutes per game this season.

The Celtics saw the most student-athletes named to the Women's Basketball Division I All-Academic list with nine total. To be named to the All-Academic team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above with at least a 3.5 overall GPA or higher.
