Women’s Basketball ranked sixth in AMCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Last season the Celtics went 12-14 overall and 9-9 in AMCC action.
Third year head coach Dave Gordon selected senior guard Sydney Carr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) and junior guard Emiley Hillgartner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) as players to watch this season.
Carr earned USCAA All-American First Team honors for the 2023-24 season. She led the Celtics with 373 points and was second on the team with an average 14.3 points per game.
At 5-foot-4, Carr also led Carlow with an average 6.9 rebounds per game and ranked seventh in the AMCC with an average 5.4 defensive rebounds per game. She tallied 19 total blocks on the season and ranked sixth in the league with an average 0.7 blocks per game.
Hillgartner led Carlow last season and ranked 10th in the AMCC with an average 14.5 points per game. She was second on the team behind Carr with 347 total points. Hillgartner led the team and ranked third in the league with an average 2.5 steals per game. She was second on the team and ranked 14th in the AMCC with an average 2.6 assists per game.
AMCC coaches look to defending conference champion Penn State Behrend to defend its league title this season. La Roche University, who won the 2024 regular season title but fell in the tournament championship game to Behrend, is expected to finish in second place this season, with Penn State Altoona also finishing in the top three.
Penn State Behrend junior guard Morgan Altavilla was tabbed as the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Altavilla was a first team all-conference selection in 2024 and was Behrend's leading scorer, ranking second in the AMCC with 18.7 points per game.
