Women’s Basketball opens AMCC action with win over Pitt Greensburg
PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women’s basketball secured its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory with an 82-60 win over Pitt Greensburg at Donahue Pavilion Wednesday night.

Nina Cano (Greenville, Pa./Greenville HS/Grove City College) led the Celtics (3-5, 1-0 AMCC) with a double-double and career-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Sydney Carr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) added 18 points, seven assists and three steals, while Gia Rosensteel (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem HS) contributed a season-high 11 points off the bench – nine of which she scored from beyond the arc. Shaelyn Clark (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong HS) picked up seven steals and four assists and shot 4 for 4 from the charity stripe on the night.
Carlow outscored the Bobcats (1-9, 0-1 AMCC) 28-9 in the first quarter, going on a 9-2 run in the span of a little over three minutes to lead, 16-5, and ending the quarter with a 10-0 run.
Pitt Greensburg outscored Carlow 22-21 in the second quarter, with the Celtics' first quarter lead affording them an 18-point advantage at intermission. Another dominant quarter from the Celtics in the third saw Carlow ahead by 31 points as the teams headed toward the fourth. Although the Bobcats held Carlow to just nine points in the fourth quarter, they could not recover from the deficit.
Carlow took care of the ball throughout the game, committing just nine turnovers on the night. The Celtics scored 33 points off 27 Pitt Greensburg turnovers and outrebounded the Bobcats, 48-42. Carlow dominated in the paint, outscoring Pitt Greensburg 42-28.
Tiana Moracco led the Bobcats with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Rakiyah Porter and Trinity Lockwood-Morris contributed 11 points apiece.
The Celtics return to action in the new year with a 4 p.m. home game against Hilbert College Jan. 4.
