Women’s Basketball rolls to victory past Hilbert College

The Celtics (4-5) improved to 2-0 in the conference with the decisive win, holding the Hawks (0-13, 0-1 AMCC) to single-digit points in all four quarters.
Sydney Carr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) led Carlow with a game-high 16 points, while tallying two each of assists, steals and blocks. Nina Cano (Greenville, Pa./Greenville HS/Grove City College) added 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, while Emiley Hillgartner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) contributed 12 points and four assists off the bench. Shaelyn Clark (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong HS) scored 10 points with four assists, four steals and a block.
Carlow extended its lead to double figures midway through the second quarter and never looked back. Neither team shot particularly well from the floor, but the Celtics capitalized on second chance points and forced 15 turnovers on the day. Carlow did not commit a single foul until the third quarter.
Carlow outrebounded the Hawks 53-40 and scored 26 points to Hilbert's 12 in the paint.
Cianna Tobia led the Hawks with 10 points and Kelsey Schlagenhauf contributed nine rebounds.
The Celtics return to action with a 7 p.m. AMCC game at Pitt Bradford Jan. 8.
