Women’s Basketball loses lopsided contest to AMCC-leading Lions

The Lions (14-5, 10-0 AMCC) remain unbeaten in conference action with the decisive win over the Celtics (7-9, 5-4 AMCC).
Penn State Behrend held the Celtics to just two points in the second quarter and shot 52.1 percent (37 for 71) from the field on the night with 12 three-pointers.
Nina Cano (Greenville, Pa./Greenville HS/Grove City College) led Carlow with 13 points. Sydney Carr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) dished out three assists, and Emiley Hillgartner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) picked up four steals in the effort.
Carlow led much of the first quarter as the teams took turns trading marginal leads. The Lions came out on top, 15-12, heading into the second.
Cano recorded Carlow's only bucket in the second quarter, as Penn State Behrend outscored the Celtics 31-2 to take a commanding 32-point lead into intermission.
The Lions did not let off the gas in the second half, outscoring Carlow 46-26 for the win.
Penn State Behrend took advantage of Carlow's mistakes, scoring 31 points off 22 Celtics turnovers. The Lions outscored Carlow 40-14 in the paint and 36-12 off the bench. Penn State Behrend outrebounded the Celtics 45-41.
Morgan Altavilla sank four treys to lead the Lions with a game-high 20 points. Rachel Majewski added 16 points, and Julia Balaski scored 12 points off the bench. Madilyn Boyer dished out nine assists, and Alexis Furyes recorded four of Penn State Behrend's seven blocks on the night.
The Celtics travel to Hilbert College for a 3 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 1.
