PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University sophomore Emilee Miller led the women's golf team with several academic awards this season.
Miller, a Health Sciences major from Glenshaw, Pa., was a three-time USCAA Golfer of the Week honoree this season alone.
Thanks to her hard work on the green and in the classroom, Miller earned several national academic awards. She was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® at-large team; the Daktronics National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete team; and the RSC Scholar-Athlete team.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
The NAIA announced the 2022-23 Daktronics NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athletes in mid-May from nearly 120 schools with close to 350 total student-athletes selected for their academic achievements.
Grand View (Iowa) and Truett McConnell (Ga.) lead the field with eight honorees each, narrowly besting a group of four institutions which have seven representatives. Those schools are Briar Cliff (Iowa), Midway (Ky.), Pikeville (Ky.), and SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
The RSC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team was named with all team members who have a 3.25 GPA or higher and at least two semesters at their current institution. Midway led that category with seven team members named. Below are the honorees for the Celtics:
- Emilee Miller
- Mia Rosporski
- Emma Shuttleworth
- Alexa Vincent
