PITTSBURGH ---Carlow University women's golf is one of the founding members of the newly established Colonial Women's Golf Conference.
The CWGC announced it has been officially approved for active NCAA Division III single-sport conference status, effective Sept. 1, 2025. The CWGC will provide a new platform for competitive women's collegiate golf, bringing together a strong lineup of institutions committed to the growth of the sport.
In addition to Carlow, the other founding members of the Colonial Women's Golf Conference include Babson College, Christopher Newport University, Kean University, Penn State Altoona, Salisbury University and Stockton University.
The inaugural CWGC Championship will take place from Oct. 26-28, 2025, at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, Pa., a highly regarded venue for golf enthusiasts and competitors alike. This championship will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Division III women's golf.
As a newly formed single-sport league, the CWGC will not yet be eligible for automatic qualification into the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament. Under current NCAA regulations, the conference must meet a two-year waiting period before earning automatic qualifier status. The conference is in the process of securing the required waiver from the Division III Championships Committee.
CWGC Commissioner Chris Roekle, stated, "The formation of the Colonial Women's Golf Conference represents a significant step forward for women's golf in Division III. Our member institutions are committed to fostering high-level competition and providing student-athletes with outstanding opportunities to excel both on the course and in the classroom. We are thrilled to begin this new journey together."
The CWGC will serve as a home for talented student-athletes, offering them the chance to compete in a supportive and competitive environment that aligns with the principles of Division III athletics, emphasizing both academic success and athletic performance.
