Women’s Soccer opens 2023 season with tie against Bethany (W.Va.)

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's soccer opened the 2023 season with a 0-0 tie against Bethany (W.Va.) College at Highmark Stadium Friday night.

The Bison (0-0-1) maintained possession for the majority of the game, but neither team was able to come up with a goal.

Bethany out-shot the Celtics, 17-4 (9-2 on goal), and held a 5-2 corner kick advantage.

Both of Carlow's shots on goal came in the second half. Avery Dudek had a look in the 61st minute, and Amber Biros put one on after taking a free kick just outside the 18 at 71'.

Mallory Peyton put three shots on net for the Bison.

Rebecca Crawford got her first start in goal for the Celtics and made nine stops in the complete game effort.

Carlow travels to North Carolina for a game against Brevard College Sept. 3.
