Women’s Soccer sees just one shot on goal in loss to Shaw

DURHAM, N.C. --- Carlow University women's soccer lost, 5-0, to NCAA DII Shaw University on the final day of its road trip to North Carolina Tuesday.

The undefeated Bears (3-0) permitted the Celtics (0-2-1) just one shot on goal off the boot of Arley Wilson in the 15th minute.

Carlow allowed Shaw just one goal late in the first half at 44', but the Bears returned from halftime with a vengeance.

The Bears scored their second goal just under two minutes into the second half, tacking on another at 52' and back-to-back goals at 68' and 70'.

Shaw out-shot the Celtics, 28-2, and did not allow Carlow a single corner kick the entire game.

Goalkeeper Lyndsey Szekely suffered the loss, making six saves in 81 minutes of work. Ava Matz saw her first action as a Celtic to close the remainder of the match, making two saves.

Carlow returns to action against Fifth Ave. foe Chatham University Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
