Women’s Soccer picks up first win of the season with shutout over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. --- Carlow University women's soccer recorded its first win of the season with a 5-0 shutout win over Wells College on the road Saturday.

The Celtics (1-7-3, 1-3-1 AMCC) out-shot the Express (0-7, 0-4 AMCC) a whopping 46-6 on the day and 29-5 on goal.

Avery Dudek scored two unassisted goals early in the eighth and 23rd minutes to put Carlow ahead, 2-0.

Eve Hornick notched another minutes later at 28' to give the Celtics a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Express held Carlow scoreless for 48 minutes before Hannah Biros knocked in her first goal of the season at 76', and Anna Gribik tallied her first collegiate goal at 89' to give the Celtics a 5-0 advantage.

Kylee Pry earned the win in net after making three stops in the first half.

Lyndsey Szekely made two stops in 39 minutes of action, and Ava Matz finished the remainder of the match without having to face a challenge.

The Celtics held an 8-3 corner kick advantage, and Lydia Thomas put three shots on target for the Express.

Carlow concludes its weekend road trip with an 11 a.m. AMCC match at Pitt Bradford tomorrow.
