Women’s Soccer draws No. 4 seed in USCAA Championship Tournament

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's soccer was selected as the No. 4 seed in the 2023 USCAA Championship tournament.

It is Carlow's third trip to nationals in recent history, as the Celtics competed back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015.

The Celtics face Bryant & Stratton Syracuse at 12:45 p.m. for a USCAA Championship semifinal match at AHN Montour Junction Nov. 17.

Carlow ended the regular season 2-10-3 overall.

Newcomer Arley Wilson leads the team with three goals on the year, and several Celtics have one assist. Senior Avery Dudek and sophomore Eve Hornick tallied two goals apiece this season.

Senior Kylee Pry leads Carlow with a 1.60 goals against average (GAA), while sophomore Lyndsey Szekely made 52 stops in net this season.

The Celtics are averaging 0.80 goals and 11.2 shots per game with a 2.80 GAA heading into the tournament.

The Bryant & Stratton Syracuse Bobcats are the No. 1 seed in the tournament, averaging 3.22 goals per game with a 1.22 GAA heading into the semifinal game against the Celtics.

Several Syracuse players hold the top spots in numerous USCAA statistical categories.

Masego Nfandiso leads her team and the USCAA with 12 goals and seven assists on the year. Teammates Alba Serrano and Nicelle Drew are second and third in the USCAA with six and four assists respectively.

Nfandiso also leads the nation with 38 shots and 31 points, and Drew is fourth in the league with six goals.

Goalkeeper Mireia Ferrero Rosino is third in the USCAA with a 1.13 GAA, fifth with a .775 save percentage and has 31 saves on the season.
