McCoy named USCAA Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Year

USCAA RELEASE

PITTSBURGH --- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) awarded Carlow University women's soccer player Meghan McCoy Student-Athlete of the Year, announced at the banquet in November.

McCoy, a sophomore defender from Pittsburgh, Pa., earned the distinction based on her efforts in the classroom and community.

One player per sport is selected as the USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year. The emphasis of the award is on merit, academic performance and community involvement, versus athletic performance. The award winner is selected by a committee of National Office members, board members and member Athletic Directors.

McCoy attended the Mayo Clinic's annual Hematology/Oncology conference for physician assistants and nurse practitioners this fall. After losing her mother to breast cancer, she helped organize the Carlow Kicks Cancer game, where the team sold pink tee-shirts and collected hats, beanies and blankets to donate to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. McCoy is also an excellent student with well over a 3.5 GPA in the rigorous Health Sciences Physician Assistant program.
