PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's soccer lost, 7-0, to visiting Washington & Jefferson College at Highmark Stadium Tuesday night.
The Presidents (2-1-1) outshot the Celtics 29-6 on the night and 14-2 on goal. Amara Battista (South Park, Pa./South Park HS/CCAC) recorded three of Carlow's shots and put one on net in the first half. Tianna Torles (Bethel Park, Pa./St. Vincent College) saw the second opportunity for the Celtics, also in the first half.
Carlow (0-2-1) trailed by just two goals heading into halftime. Olivia Olsen assisted on a goal at 10' and scored one of her own at 32'.
An unassisted goal at 51' and back-to-back goals at 59' and 60' put the Presidents ahead, 6-0.
W&J landed its final tally of the night in the 84th minute.
The Presidents held a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
Lyndsey Szekely (North Huntington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) suffered the loss and made four saves in net for Carlow in the first half. Elizabeth Knight (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) stopped three shots in the final 45 minutes of action.
Carlow returns to the pitch tomorrow for a 4 p.m. match against Chatham University.
