ALFRED, N.Y. --- Carlow University women's soccer lost a 6-2 AMCC contest to Alfred State College on the road Saturday.
The Celtics (3-8-1, 2-2 AMCC) held the Pioneers (4-6-3, 2-1-2 AMCC) scoreless in the second half but could not clear the first half deficit.
Carlow outshot Alfred State 6-4 in the second half, and Jenna McGuinness (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin HS/Seton Hill University) landed her seventh goal of the season on a pass from Amara Battista (South Park, Pa./South Park HS/CCAC) in the 52nd minute.
Harley Vincler (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park HS) found Arley Wilson (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area HS) 30 minutes later to score Carlow's second goal of the match, but it was too little, too late for the Celtics as time ticked off the clock.
Elizabeth Knight (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) made seven saves in the complete game effort in goal.
Vic Stuck and Ainsley Pirotta scored two goals apiece, while Madison Kice added two assists to lift the Pioneers to a 6-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Alfred State outshot Carlow 15-7 (13-5 on goal) and held a 10-3 corner kick advantage.
The Celtics travel to La Roche University for a 4:15 p.m. match Oct. 15.
