Women’s Soccer shut out in USCAA pool play game against NCAA DII Shaw
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. --- Carlow University women’s soccer lost a 7-0 contest to NCAA DII Shaw (N.C.) University in USCAA Championship tournament pool play at AHN Montour Friday night.

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. --- Carlow University women's soccer lost a 7-0 contest to NCAA DII Shaw (N.C.) University in USCAA Championship tournament pool play at AHN Montour Friday night.
The No. 5-ranked Celtics (3-13-1) faced the No. 1-ranked Bears (9-6-1) down 10 players due to various injury and illness.
Jenna McGuinness (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin HS/Seton Hill University) recorded Carlow's lone shot on goal early in the second half.
Elizabeth Knight (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) got the start in net, stopping a penalty kick in the 17th minute after she was assessed with a yellow card. Knight stopped seven shots in 69 minutes as the netminder.
Lyndsey Szekely (North Huntington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) made one save in the final 21 minutes of work.
The Bears landed their first goal early in the fifth minute and added another at 22'. Shaw took a 3-0 lead into halftime after another tally in the 41st minute.
Shaw scored four goals in the second half at 51', 70', 82' and 88'. Brianna Garbrandt recorded two assists and Eva Baana added a goal and an assist for the Bears. Shaw outshot Carlow 22-1 and held a 5-1 corner kick advantage.
The Celtics continue USCAA Championship pool play against No. 4-ranked Florida National University tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. at AHN Montour.
