Several Women’s Tennis student-athletes earn academic honors

PITTSBURGH --- Several Carlow University women's tennis student-athletes earned end-of-year academic awards.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Tennis Scholar-Athletes in mid-May. Marian (Ind.) led the way with 10 honorees while Cumberlands (Ky.) followed just behind with nine.

The 2023 list featured 309 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced the 2022-23 Spring Non-Championship Sport National All-Academic Team June 1.

The USCAA's National All-Academic Award is designed to recognize all student-athletes (sophomores, juniors and seniors at four-year institutions and sophomores at two-year institutions) who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.00-point system) or greater. This season's award is for those student-athletes that participate at a member institution in a sport in which there is not currently a USCAA National Championship. The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team recognized those with a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher competing in an RSC championship sports and being at their current institution at least two semesters. Oakland City led the conference with 10 team members named. Below are the honorees for the Celtics:
