Women’s Tennis picks up first win of the season over Waynesburg
PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University tennis scored an exciting 4-3 win over Waynesburg University at Alpha Tennis & Fitness Tuesday evening.

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University tennis scored an exciting 4-3 win over Waynesburg University at Alpha Tennis & Fitness Tuesday evening.
The Celtics (1-4) picked up their first win of the season after a three-hour long competitive match against the Jackets (1-5).
Julia Piatt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) and Caitlin McCarthy (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton HS) won the No. 1 doubles match, 6-2, but Waynesburg earned the doubles point after narrowly winning the next two matches, 7-5 and 6-4.
Piatt won her No. 1 singles match after two tiebreak sets. She took the first set 6-7 with a 7-5 tiebreak and won the second set 6-3 with a 10-6 tiebreak.
McCarthy swept the No. 2 singles match, 6-0 and 6-2, as did Sofia Hernandez (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway HS) in the No. 4 singles position, 6-1 and 6-3.
First year athlete Elle Duda (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park HS) won her first collegiate match, 6-2 and 6-3, in the No. 6 singles spot to secure Carlow's victory.
The Celtics travel to Mount Aloysius College for a 1 p.m. AMCC matchup Sept. 28.
