GREENVILLE, Pa. --- Carlow University tennis pulled off a 5-2 win over Thiel College despite competing with just four players Friday afternoon.
Carlow's doubles teams of Julia Piatt/Caitlin McCarthy and Elle Duda/Lyric Knepshield swept the doubles point with wins of 6-3 and 6-2, respectively.
The Tomcats' lone points came in form of defaults at No. 5 and 6 singles due to the Celtics only having four athletes available for the match.
Piatt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) won No. 1 singles, 6-0 and 6-3, and McCarthy (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton HS) took No. 2 singles, 6-4 and 6-4.
Knepshield (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk HS) won her first collegiate singles match in the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-2 and 6-3, and Duda (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park HS) won No. 4 singles, 7-6 and 6-0.
The Celtics conclude the regular season with a 12:30 p.m. match at Saint Vincent College Oct. 13.
