Several Women’s Indoor Track & Field newcomers make debut at YSU Icebreaker

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --- Carlow University women's track & field kicked off the indoor season at Youngstown State University Friday.

Thirty-seven teams and hundreds of athletes from the region shook off the rust at the YSU Icebreaker, held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

Several Celtics made their collegiate debuts throughout the day, and a few veterans were just shy of personal best marks in the opener.

Senior Christina Smith scored a top-10 finish for Carlow, placing ninth in high jump at 1.52 meters.

Sydney Taylor leapt 9.54 meters in triple jump in her first collegiate meet to land in 21^st place.

Olivia Brenkacs made her debut in the 200 with a time of 33.11, while Malia Fowler and Taylor Boyd competed in several events for the Celtics.

Senior Molly Wagner was just tenths of a second from tying her personal best in the 60-meter dash, placing 29^th with a time of 8.05, as was Trista Miller (8.45) and Taylor Charity (8.85).

Carlow returns to action at the Susquehanna Early Season Multi and Invite Dec. 9.
