Smith, Wagner sweep AMCC Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors
NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. --- Carlow University Women's Indoor Track & Field athletes Christina Smith and Molly Wagner swept Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.
It is the women's track & field team's first AMCC award this season.
Smith, a senior from Oil City, Pa., earned field athlete of the week honors after securing a first place finish in high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters, while also coming in fourth in triple jump and seventh in long jump at the Muskingum University Muskie Meet No. 2 Jan. 20.
Wagner, a senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., earned track athlete of the week honors after placing second in the 200 with a time of 27.61. She was also part of the 4x200 relay team that scored the third best time in the Carlow record books with a second place finish of 1:53.73. The Celtics tallied 13 top-10 finishes on the day and placed fifth out of 10 teams at the meet.
Carlow travels to the University of Mount Union for the Jim Wuske Invitational Jan. 27.
