RIO GRANDE, Ohio --- Carlow University women's track & field placed seventh of 11 teams at the River States Conference Outdoor Championship April 28-29, hosted by the University of Rio Grande.
The top three finishers in each event earned all-conference honors, while the top eight finishers scored points for their team.
Mya Greschner paved the way, earning 2023 RSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Newcomer of the Year. That was after winning the 400 meters, placing second in long jump, third in the 200 meters and fourth in the 100 meters.
It is the second year in a row the Celtics have captured the award for the women's team, with Molly Wagner bringing home the honor last season.
Greschner's first place time of 58.46 in the 400 broke her previous school record by almost two seconds, and she was also the anchor to the fourth place 4x400 relay team of Ella Cloak, Keri Lechner and Christina Smith that broke the school record in the event.
Lechner and Smith also brought home hardware in their respective events.
Lechner's third place time of 14.80 in the 100-meter hurdles was just five tenths of a second from tying her school record and reaching an NAIA qualifying mark. She also earned points for the team with a fifth place finish in long jump.
Smith earned a podium spot with third place in high jump at 1.55 meters and also earned points by placing fifth in triple jump.
All of Carlow's participants in triple jump earned points for the team.
Taylor Charity, Cailin Taylor, Laci Schwirian, Mya Waage and Julia Ogrodowski all recorded personal best marks in some of their respective events.
Emma Sovich was named the team's Champions of Character representative. The award honors one member of each team who best displays the NAIA five character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Charity, Smith and Sovich were named to the RSC Scholar-Athlete Team, which recognizes outstanding students with a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher who have been at their current school for more than two semesters.
