PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's track & field student-athletes Emma Sovich and Molly Wagner earned several national academic distinctions this past season.
Both were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team; the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete team; and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Spring Non-Championship National All-Academic team.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
To be eligible, nominees must participate in 50 percent of the competitions that an institution schedules in either cross country, indoor track & field, or outdoor track & field. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
The NAIA released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Track & Field Scholar-Athletes in May.
Concordia (Neb.) had the highest number of honorees with 37 and was followed by Dordt (Iowa) with 32 honorees of its own.
The 2023 list featured 1,076 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their institution. To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

This season's award is for those student-athletes that participate at a member institution in a sport in which there is not currently a USCAA National Championship.
