Women’s Track & Field places second in the nation at USCAA Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- Every single Carlow University women's outdoor track & field athlete placed in the top-10 in their respective events to help lift the Celtics to a second-place finish at the USCAA Championship Saturday.

Senior Molly Wagner led the way with two first place finishes in the 100 and 200. She broke the meet record in the 200 with a time of 26.16, besting the previous record (26.44) set by Loren Winters from Mississippi University for Women in 2022. Wagner was also part of the 4x100 relay team of Trista Miller, Sydney Taylor and Ella Cloak that placed first with their best time this season of 50.79.

Taylor broke the meet record in triple jump with a personal best distance of 10.63 meters to place first in the event. Madeeah Oranchak of SUNY Delhi set the previous meet record of 10.53 meters in 2017. Taylor also snagged a personal best with a second-place leap of 4.67 meters in long jump.

Miller took second place in both the 100 and 200 to score points for the Celtics, and Cloak came in second in the 800 with a time of 2:36.41. Cloak also placed third in the 400.

Mya Waage threw a personal best 31.50 meters in discus to land in fourth place, and Julia Ogrodowski placed fourth in shot put. Ogrodowski also threw a personal best 28.33 meters to place sixth in discus.

Emma Sovich saw two personal bests in shot put and discus, placing fifth and ninth respectively in each event.

Laci Schwirian placed sixth in the 5,000 to round out scoring for the Celtics, who finished the day with 98 points as a team.

First Team All-Americans were awarded to the top seven cumulative scorers, while second team honors went to finishers eight thorugh 14. Wagner, Miller, Taylor and Cloak all earned second team honors.

SUNY-ESF scored 156 points to win the 2024 USCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship.
