Throwers, relay teams lead Women’s Track & Field at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women’s track & field competed at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational March 28 and 29.

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's track & field competed at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational March 28 and 29.

The Celtics competed against 22 other colleges and universities across NCAA Divisions I, II and III in the two-day event.

Mya Waage (Trinity, Fla./J. W. Mitchell HS) led the Celtics with a personal best throw of 32.83 meters in discus, good enough to land her second in the Carlow record books behind Jasmine Wicks (33.42 on March 27, 2021). She placed 13th in the event.

Emma Sovich (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area HS) threw her second-best outdoor distance in discus at 26.58 meters, and Julia Ogrodowski (Fredericktown, Pa./Bethlehem Center HS) threw a third-best outdoor distance in shot put with 9.62 meters. Ogrodowski's throw landed her fifth best in the Carlow record books.

Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) leapt an outdoor personal best 4.73 meters in long jump and was part of the 4x100 relay team of Trista Miller (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan HS), Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) and Molly Wagner that placed seventh with a time of 50.87.

Wagner (Pleasant Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson HS) placed 11th in the 100 with a time of 12.72 and was part of the 4x400 relay team of Cloak, Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) and Miller that placed 14th with a time of 4:28.41.
