Women’s Volleyball goes five sets at Penn State Fayette
LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. --- Carlow University women’s volleyball pulled off a 3-2 win over Penn State Fayette on the road Tuesday night.

Alison Humberston (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands HS) led the Celtics with 18 kills and 13 digs. Rebecca Hess (New Alexandria, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) added 13 kills and led the team with a career-high 36 digs, while Javonna Perkins (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) contributed a season-high 12 kills. Kelsey Sufak (Allison Park, Pa./Deer Lakes HS) added a career-high 22 digs, and three other players tallied double-figure digs in the effort.
The Celtics (6-10) took the first set 25-17 and the Lions (8-7) rallied to narrowly win the second set by a score of 25-23.
Tied 1-1, Fayette went ahead in the third set with another close, 25-22, victory.
The Celtics trailed, 2-1, in the match, and both teams battled it out to win-by-two situation in the fourth set. Carlow came out victorious, 29-27.
The Celtics won the fifth set, 15-8, to claim the match victory.
Amiah DeShields led the Lions with 16 kills and Adela Blough added 31 digs.
Carlow hosts Alfred State College for an 11 a.m. match to open AMCC action Oct. 12.
