Hess named to AMCC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Team
NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. --- Carlow University women's volleyball outside hitter Rebecca Hess landed a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference Third Team, the league announced Nov. 19.
NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. --- Carlow University women's volleyball outside hitter Rebecca Hess landed a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference Third Team, the league announced Nov. 19.
The junior from New Alexandria, Pa. led the team and ranked fifth in the AMCC with an average 3.11 kills per set and tallied 280 kills this season. Hess also led the team with 344 digs and ranked ninth in the league with an average 3.82 digs per set. She also earned USCAA All-American First Team honors this season. Last year, Hess was named to the AMCC All-Conference Second Team.
Alfred State College senior outside hitter Racquel Gerstenberger was named the AMCC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year. Gerstenberger reached the 1,000 career kill mark this season and was on the cusp of 1,000 career digs. She led the team in kills, points, aces and digs, while also ranking third in the AMCC with 3.68 kills per set on the season.
Penn State Behrend first year outside hitter Cadence Jones was tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Jones ranked 12th in NCAA DIII statistics in total kills (431) and ranked first in the AMCC in kills per set (3.95), total kills (431) and points (508.5).
Coach of the Year honors went to Alfred State head coach Gene Doorley. Doorley earned the honor for the first time in his career after leading the Pioneers to a 7-1 conference record, along with a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the AMCC championship tournament.
