Women’s Cross Country races to victory behind Cloak’s first place finish

Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) led the Celtics with a first place finish of 22:48.6 in the 3.11-mile race. It is the first time the Celtics placed first as a team since the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational Sept. 16, 2017. Carlow recorded a team score of 28 with an average time of 24:32.
Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) placed third with a time of 23:08.7, and Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) scored a sixth place finish with a season-best 24:16.7.
Newcomer Mackenna Rankin (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley HS) placed eighth with a time of 24:31.1, and Claire Stevens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) rounded out scoring for the Celtics with a time of 27:55.3 to place 14th.
The Celtics travel to the Pitt Greensburg Fall Classic Oct. 5.
