Women’s Cross Country places first at La Roche Invitational

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's cross country raced to a first place team finish at the La Roche University invitational Friday afternoon.

Carlow competed against four other teams in the 26-person 5k.

Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) led the Celtics with a first place finish of 23:08.8, followed by Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) who was just seconds behind in second place with a time of 23:13.4.

Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) raced to a sixth place finish with a time of 24:43.1, and Claire Stevens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) placed 12th in 27:56.9.

Leia Day (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell HS) rounded out scoring for the Celtics, placing 15th with a time of 30:01.4.

It was Carlow's second first place team finish this season.

The Celtics compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds Nov. 2.
