Women’s Cross Country races to third place finish at AMCC Championship
GREENSBURG, Pa. --- Carlow University women’s cross country placed third of six teams at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship, hosted by Pitt Greensburg at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds Saturday.

The Celtics made school history with their first conference team podium finish after scoring 79 points with an average time of 30:46.
For the second year in a row, Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) and Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) earned All-Conference honors after finishing in the top 15 of the 40-person 6k race.
Cloak led the Celtics with an eighth place finish and a personal best 6k time of 27:34.2, and Schwirian raced to a 12th place finish in 28:14.3.
Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) placed 18th with a time of 30:58.1, and Mackenna Rankin (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley HS) ran a personal best 32:47.3 to finish 22nd.
Claire Stevens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) and Leia Day (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell HS) crossed the finish line at 34:20.9 and 40:53.2 respectively to round out scoring for the Celtics.
Penn State Behrend earned its sixth straight and 14th overall AMCC Championship with 28 total points, and Alfred State first-year student Hailey Kumpf took home the individual title with a first place finish of 25:07.4.
Up next for the Celtics is the USCAA Championship, hosted by Penn State Fayette Nov. 10.
