Women’s Cross Country places fifth at USCAA Championship, Barr named Coach of the Year

During the awards ceremony, Head Coach Ashley Barr earned Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for her unwavering support and encouragement of the team this season. The women's team placed first in two meets this year and made school history with their first conference team podium with a third place finish at the AMCC Championship Nov. 2.

The Celtics ran an average time of 29:03 in the 6k race, facing sodden conditions due to the cold, unrelenting rain.
Ella Cloak (New Cumberland, Pa./Trinity HS) led the team with a personal best time of 27:10.7 to place 20th in the 69-runner field.
Laci Schwirian (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward HS) finished in 27:42.5, and Sydney Taylor (Castle Shannon, Pa./Keystone Oaks HS) ran a personal best time of 27:45.9 to place 25th and 26th, respectively.
Mackenna Rankin (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley HS) ran a personal best 29:51.5, and Claire Stevens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area HS) rounded out scoring for the Celtics with a time of 32:45.7.
Kaylie Dameron of Wright State Lake Campus took home the individual title with a first place finish of 23:03.1, and SUNY-ESF scored 20 points to win its fourth straight championship with an average time of 24:29.
